First few days Abroad.

Your first few days of adjustment in a foreign country contribute to your overall attitude towards living there. "First impression is the best impression", right? But you should make an effort to first make an impression in the university you are studying at.
Most Universities have an orientation program directed towards international students l
ike international week. Being an international student you should avail this opportunity and put yourself out there. This is the best time to socialize. Like you every other student is also nervous about the new place and for most of them it is their first time abroad too. I know it is a stressful time but make sure you are out of your comfort zone and make a name for yourself. Mingle with everyone and don't just stick to your "country mates". This opportunity to socialize is the easiest of all and all you have to do is make friends not contacts. Just remembers these friends will soon turn into contacts. Very important ones at that.
During this week, even the clubs are open for you to join. Go around the campus looking for your interest. Join a few clubs, this way you get into a closed group. This boosts your skill and also your confidence. It also looks good on your resume. If there is something you haven't tried but want to and are scared then don't hesitate at all. Like I already told you everybody out there are also new. Get out of your comfort zone and watch wonders happen. BTW they don't happen just like that, you make them happen. Awesome, right?
If you think unpacking your luggage is the most important thing to do then you can't be more wrong. Well being neat and organised is important but not at the cost of missing out on wonderful opportunities.
Did I make it sound complicated? It's not. The best part is the orientation is the most fun thing that you could do. You get to meet people from all over the world, the orientation leaders organize various fun activities, and you also get tours of the locality.
If this doesn't convince then I don't know what else will. Just remember LIFE BEGINS AT THE END OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!

Which Intake is Better?

Fall: Fall semester starts in late August and ends in early December.
Spring: Spring semester begins in January and ends in early May.
I would say Fall. Well in a nutshell I will outline 3 important reasons to join in Fall semester.1. The number of courses offered are more during Fall than in Spring.
2. To apply for internship outside college, one needs to be enrolled in the university for a mininum of 9 months. This is a problem as most of the internships open up during summer and the Spring admit will have face a disadvantage here. Also most on-campus jobs like TA & RA positions are also open during Fall and by Spring most students will have already filled in for the position.
3. For anyone who wants to be involved in the University activities, Fall intake would be a more suitable option especially if the student is keen on winning a prestigious position within the organization. This is because the new leaders are always elected at the end of the spring semester, by joining in the spring semester you will not have enough time to show your true potential.
